News : Up to 900 Derby Webhelp Staff Transfer to New Company after Sky Shake-Up
Derby, UK, February, 2017 -- Hundreds of workers at a call centre in Derby have been transferred to another company.
The transfer of 868 staff who work at Webhelp's contact centre on Pride Park has come about following a decision by one of its key customers - media provider Sky - to "re-organise" its customer service operations. Since 2012, the centre has been handling customer service and sales inquiries on behalf of Sky.

But Sky has now decided to award the work to a company called Firstsource. It will mean that the 868 Webhelp staff in Derby will transfer to Firstsource from March 1. They will continue to handle television and broadband customer service inquiries - and will remain in the same building on Pride Park.
Meanwhile, the remaining 420 Webhelp staff will continue to work on other areas of Sky's business while also handling customer calls for another company, Unilever. In a statement, Webhelp said: "Sky has been reviewing its operations, partnerships and ways of working to ensure they are as effective as possible and has taken the decision to appoint Webhelp to provide value added customer management services across a number of key Sky business areas.
