News : Verizon Announces New Jobs Coming to Murfreesboro, Franklin
July 17, 2014 -- Verizon Wireless is set to hire more than 300 employees at its Murfreesboro and Franklin call centers as well as retail locations throughout the Nashville area, the company announced in a press release.
Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce President Paul Latture said the new jobs are a positive sign for Rutherford County’s job market.
"When you see an existing employer expand its current workforce, it speaks of the positive business environment and available workforce we have to offer," he said.
The new jobs also nibble away at the county’s unemployment rate, which sat among the three lowest in the state in May at 5 percent.
Verizon’s announcement will add to increases in professional and business services when it starts hiring retail sales representatives, call center representatives and sales support to support the company’s rapid growth.
Job seekers will meet call center recruiters and use on-site computers to file job applications at two hiring events in July in Franklin.
Verizon is also actively trying to provide career opportunities for returning veterans, officials said.
