News : Verizon Hiring for Customer Service Jobs
May 2, 2014 -- New York-based Verizon Communications is recruiting to fill 85 full-time customer service jobs at its Newmarket Fair facility in Newport News as its FiOS Internet and TV service continues to expand.
Employees will handle calls from customers about their fiber-based voice, Internet and video services also known as FiOS. The fiber solutions center, which opened in March 2005, employs 365 people currently, according to a news release.
The Newport News jobs are part of Verizon’s overall effort to attract about 450 new employees at fiber solutions centers in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Local recruitment continues through August.
"Verizon is an integral part of the Hampton Roads region, and we know that we can find those knowledgeable and customer-focused candidates from the pool of top-quality, highly skilled talent in this area," Kelley Kurtzman, Verizon vice president for national operations, said in a statement.
The positions come with benefits, including healthcare coverage that begins on the first day of employment and a 401(k) program. Job seekers can apply online.
