Syracuse, NY, USA, April 8, 2015 -- A group who spends their work days helping others is honored for their services.
Some Onondaga County 911 Center employees were recognized Wednesday for their outstanding performance for 2014.
Last year, the Department of Emergency Communications Center handled more than a million calls and dispatches.
Officials say it's things like that that show just how important the employees are.
We spoke with the recipient of the Employee of the Year award who has been working for the center for 26 years.
She said it's a hard job, but it is also very rewarding.
"In the end you have helped somebody whether it is just somebody who was in a car accident or somebody who was really hurt. In the end you do get a good feeling in your heart," said Kelly Brigman employee of the year recipient.
This marked the 22nd year of the awards ceremony.
