News : Virginia Bests Connecticut for Frontier Call Center
Wise County, VA, USA, June 30, 2016 -- Virginia beat out Connecticut and several other states for a Frontier Communications (Nasdaq: FTR) call center that will employ as many as 500 people.
The Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority authorized a loan to establish the Frontier call center in Wise County in Virginia’s western corner, with the Norwalk-based company receiving more funding in Tobacco Region Opportunity Funds and Frontier eligible for additional training and enterprise zone incentives.
Besides Connecticut, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia had been in the running for the facility according to the office of Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe.
The new call center will handle transactions for Frontier Secure, the company’s subscription-based service for computer maintenance and security.
