News : Virtual Call Center Helping Disaster Victims
Harlingen, TX, USA, Sept 21, 2016 -- The American Red Cross is associated with helping out when disasters strike. However, a new virtual call center in the Rio Grande Valley is offering a different approach.
The virtual call casework center in Harlingen is planned to be in operation next week. The goal is for the caseworkers to learn how to help with just a telephone and a computer.

The volunteers are trained to gather information from those affected by the Louisiana floods.
"In this case, we are sitting here and they are calling into the center and the call is forwarded to us. And we are going through some of the same questions and in the end we can assist them," Andy Treat, the call center manager, said.
The call center will only be open for about six weeks. It will reopen when the next disaster strikes.
