News : Vodafone Romania Revives Call-centre Activities, Rehires 700 Employees
Bucharest, Romania, Nov, 2018 -- Vodafone Romania revived its call-centre activities after outsourcing them and brought back 700 former employees in recent months, writes local paper Ziarul Financiar citing CEO Murielle Lorilloux. The move is part of the company's efforts to take control of some key activities before launching in 2019 the strategic project to merge with cable company UPC after receiving the transaction agreement from the European Commission. Lorilloux said the company is hiring 1,000 employees in total for its call centre activities.

The transfer of people from an external contractor back to Vodafone gives employees a career prospect in the company and reduces the number of departures, Lorilloux said. The company also changed working processes and invested in digitisation to reduce employees' number of repetitive processes.
Seven months after reviving its call centre operations, the company gained efficiency in reducing the number of calls and costs, the CEO added. The company will continue to invest in automation in several departments, such as the financial one for example, Lorilloux said.
