News : Wal-Mart Call Center to Close, Relocate to Arkansas
Hattiesburg, MI, USA, July 7, 2016 -- Wal-Mart's Hattiesburg Contact Center, located in the Cloverleaf Center on U.S. 49, will close Sept. 9 and relocate operations to Bentonville, Arkansas.
Anne Hatfield, director of communications at Wal-Mart Public Affairs & Government Relations, said the company made the decision not to renew the lease for the call center, which has been in operation for about 12 years.
"(We made the decision) after an extensive review process, and we considered a number of factors — essentially, what is best for the long-term strategic goals for the company," she said. "We know that closing a facility and moving operations from one place to another, it's not an easy decision. But we felt that it was necessary to keep the company strong and in position for the future."
