News : Webhelp Gives Helping Hand to Young Jobless
Dec 17, 2013 -- The owner of a contact centre in Derby has created nine jobs for young people through an academy set up to help them get on the career ladder.
Webhelp UK, which runs the centre on Pride Park, has created the roles as part of a nationwide skills initiative. If follows the starting up of Webhelp's Customer Experience Academy.
The academy gives pre-employment training to young jobless people who lack the necessary communication skills or experience to pass the standard entrance level of most employers.
Now, 43 people from the academy have been given jobs by Webhelp at its UK contact centres, including nine at Derby, while being supported through a 12-month apprenticeship.
Claire Croden, head of learning innovation at Webhelp UK, said: "It's great to be getting involved and playing our part in bringing employment to a part of our society which desperately needs it."
