News : Wells Fargo Call Center to Cut 115 Workers in Roanoke County
Roanoke, VA, Sept 4, 2014 -- Wells Fargo Bank on Thursday told 115 employees at its Roanoke County call center they will be terminated later this year, which will eliminate 14 percent of the facility’s work force.
Wells Fargo spokeswoman Kristy Marshall tied the cuts to a reduction in foreclosures and delinquency. In addition, demand for mortgage financing and refinancing is down, she said.
The cuts are scheduled to take effect in mid-December, Marshall said.
Affected employees who worked for the company for a qualifying period of time could get severance benefits. All departing workers will be offered employment assistance and a shot at other jobs in the company for which they qualify, she said.
