Shoreview, MN, USA, Jan, 2020 -- Cutbacks at Wells Fargo & Co.'s customer service center in Shoreview, Minn., appear to be wrapping up.
The bank notified about 115 employees they were being laid off within the next 60 days. The announcement is the last of a group of about 400 total employees who were notified in August cuts were coming. The impacted positions all relate to phone-bank positions that handle customer calls and from a related department that handles customer inquiries via text or email. Wells Fargo announced in 2017 the duties would be outsourced in the coming months and years.
Wells Fargo has been trimming headcount throughout the country. The San Francisco-based bank said in September 2018 that it would cut five to 10 percent of its total workforce — at least 10,000 jobs — over the next three years. Earlier this year it announced job cuts of about 200 people from a Bloomington, Minn., payroll office in an outsourcing deal.
