News : Women's Helpline Number to be Linked with Police's 100
New Delhi, India, March 18, 2016 -- Women's helpline number '181', whose operation was recently taken over by Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), will be linked with the police emergency service number '100'.
The decision was taken during a meeting between the DCW Chairperson Swati Maliwal and the newly-appointed Police Commissioner Alok Verma at Delhi Police Headquarters, a senior DCW official said.
Maliwal told Verma about DCW's project for setting-up Mahila Panchayats in Delhi and suggested direct linkages between the programme and local police stations.
"The new '181' helpline will be closely integrated with the '100' helpline number of the police. The Police Commissioner ordered that all women who require counseling support will be transferred to 181. Verma has assured full cooperation for DCW's data demands regarding crimes against women," the official said.

Maliwal suggested that charge sheets be digitised and monitored closely. Verma has directed the Crime Against Women (CAW) cell of Delhi Police to formulate a plan for digitisation, the official said.
Maliwal also stressed the need for strengthening the Delhi Police's anti-human trafficking response units and create a strong information system of the Delhi Police, especially in areas like GB road.
