News : Work at York County 911 Center Delayed
Nov 24, 2014 -- A planned electrical upgrade at the York County 911 center, which would have sent dispatchers to a backup call center, was delayed Sunday.
The delay was caused by the need for an additional repair needed to the 911 center's uniterruptable backup power supplies. The work will be conducted once needed parts arrive, according to a news release from the county.
When work does get underway, power to the main 911 center in Springettsbury Township will be cut to allow workers to install a new electrical bypass around backup power supplies that keeps the center operational despite power outages.
That will cause dispatchers to temporarily move to the backup 911 center in West Manchester Township. Callers shouldn't experience service interruption.
