News : Xerox Laying Off 178 in Cary Call Center
Cary, NC, USA, Jan 26, 2016 -- Xerox Commercial Services is eliminating about 178 jobs in its Cary call center.
A Xerox spokesman said in an email that the company is closing a unit in Cary that had been dedicated to a single client.
"Other units in the Cary facility will continue without interruption," said Coco Salazar, noting that those being laid off will be able to apply for other positions within the company.
The layoffs will occur on or around March 22.
Xerox employs more than 1,600 people in Cary. It entered the call center business in 2010 when it acquired Affiliated Computer Services.
Xerox executives announced in October that they are reviewing the company’s current businesses with an eye towards a possible restructuring.
"We are reviewing structural options for the company’s business portfolio and capital allocation with the goal of enhancing shareholder value," CEO Ursula Burns said on a conference call with analysts.
