News : Xerox Plans to Hire 545 at Bakersfield Call Center
Bakersfield, CA, USA, April 25, 2016 -- Xerox Corp. said it will soon hire 545 people to work full-time at its Bakersfield calling center, 401 34th St.
The announcement continues the "ebb and flow" of jobs at the location, Xerox said. In February it announced the layoff of nearly 500 workers at the call center. Last year it said it was hiring some 500 people there.
Company spokesman Kevin Lightfoot said the new jobs will be technical support positions for a technology company.
Some 600 people currently work at the center, which Xerox said offers support to companies in need of temporary help, such as health insurers enrolling subscribers during open-enrollment periods.
"The ebbs and flow of the services business is really at the behest of our clients," Lightfoot said. "That's one reason why they hire us."
