News : Xerox Reopens Houston Call Center, Creating 300 Jobs
Houston, TX, USA, May 1, 2015 -- Xerox Corp. (NYSE: XRX) has reopened a Houston call center and is adding jobs.
Connecticut-based Xerox renovated more than 21,000 square feet at 9800 Centre Parkway for the call center, which reopened in December, said Coco Salazar, Xerox corporate communications manager. The company began hiring for 300 customer care agents in March and has hired about 70 so far.
"The new jobs are a result of expanded work with an existing client who desired to expand in Houston," said Salazar, who also noted Xerox does not disclose client information.
In 2013, Xerox notified the Texas Workforce Commission that it would cut 81 jobs at the 9800 Centre Parkway location due to a change in a customer agreement with HPI Insurance. Salazar confirmed the call center is now serving a different client.
In August, Xerox notified the TWC it would close a call center at 3100 Hayes Road and cut 468 jobs due to a change in business conditions with client Sprint Corp. At the time, Xerox said the cuts did not mean the company had put off hiring plans for Houston.
"The changing demands of Xerox’s clients produce cycles of hiring," Kevin Lightfoot, vice president of corporate communications for Xerox, said in a statement to the Houston Chronicle in August. "We continue to hire new employees in many locations and will continue to hire in Houston to meet the needs of other clients."
