News : Xerox Wins NMHIX Call-center Contract
Alamogordo, NM, August 19, 2014 -- The New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange has awarded a contract to Xerox Corp. to operate its call center in Alamogordo.
The contract was awarded at the exchange’s Aug. 15 meeting and is intended to ensure that the online marketplace will have the resources in place when it operates its own exchange for individuals.
NMHIX needs a full-service call center before it can become a full state-based exchange. The exchange’s board recently voted to delay becoming an individual state-based exchange for another year, because members weren’t confident that the exchange would be operational and trouble-free by the Nov. 15 start date for open enrollment.
New Mexico operates its own small business, or SHOP exchange. It hopes to have its individual exchange operational in 2015.
